Notes:
I have had this yarn in my stash for AGES! I originally got it to make this cardigan: Crazy Little Cardigan | Wool and the Gang and purchased the kit direct from WATG. Next, I went on Ravelry as I usually do to check the projects and comments about the pattern as I had made other things from WATG and the one size fits all just hadn’t worked in the past for me (see this Ravelry project).
When I was looking, I found lots of comments saying that the cardigan tended to fall off the shoulders when wearing and this put me off.
So, I looked at other projects using the yarn and found some nice versions of the Weekender by Andrea Mowry.
I knitted up a gauge swatch, but I could not meet the gauge (18 stitches and 27 rows) no matter how hard I tried. Furthermore, I went right down to a 4.5mm needle and still only got 15 stitches per 10cm.
Now, I waded through patterns to find something that I could meet the gauge for, and I ended up with the Daily by Andrea Mowry. As this was a striped pattern I took half of my yarn, skeined it up, and over-dyed it with some Dylon navy sachet home dye.
So finally, my yarn was ready, and my gauge was right, so I finally started the project.
It’s a great pattern- so clear and easy to follow. It was my first bottom-up sweater and only my second time doing short-row shaping.
The arms worked up a bit tight the first time around and I wasn’t sure that I’d have enough of the blue yarn to do a full-length sleeve once I got to the cuff of the first sleeve and realised it was too tight and short, I ripped it out, re-knit it with 2 extra stitches for the arms, and kept my knitting looser. I also only did 3 decreases for the whole arm- spread from the end of the first stripe to the start of the ribbing
I knit the size 2 but I added an extra 2 rows per stripe as my swatch had shrunk when I washed it.
Another note on the yarn- it takes FOREVER to dry!
