So first things first in this project parade …what am I working on?
WIP 1: Radiate for JOJIFALLKAL2020
My main project at the mo is my Radiate sweater by Joji Locatelli (pattern on ravelry here)
I am using Sirdar No 1 yarn in colours Luna and Watermelon. I purchased the yarn from Wool Warehouse here in the UK.
I have had the yarn and pattern for this project for ages, and when I saw that Joji was doing a Fall KAL through September and October I decided to give it a go.
I’m almost finished on this sweater now- just the last half of the second sleeve to finish and it’s a good job too as it’s already the 20th of October. The yarn is so nice, especially for acrylic, the blend with nylon really seems to give it a nice smoothness. I would have loved to have used some lovely hand dyed yarn here but I just didn’t have the funds to purchase a sweaters quantity.
the pattern itself has been a complete delight. The colourwork textured yoke section was so engaging to knit and really kept me interested and the speed at which the DK weight yarn works up has made all that stockinette go by in a flash.
This is my first Joji pattern but I’ll definitely be trawling the patterns for more projects, I’ve seen so many lovely projects in the WIP chats.
WIP 2: Festive sock-along socks
Another WIP on the needles is a pair of socks using my “fresh pajamas” yarn from Noodle soup yarn.
I’d originally bought this yarn to make some fingerless mitts. But instead I decided to cast on my first pair of socks. I’m using the “my favourite socks” pattern from Voolenvine (pattern on ravelry here). I thought it might be a bit tricky so was really glad I found the video tutorial Kristen has done for these socks on YouTube. Oh, what a help that has been, I went through the pattern at the same time but was glad to have the visuals to help and the encouragement from Kristen herself too.
I have got one sock finished already but I want to focus on finishing my Radiate before I finish this project so it’s living in my Castleview Yarns rainbow whales project bag for the next week.
I’ve decided to also use it as my entry for Amy Florence of Stranded Dyeworks festive sock along. I know the yarn isn’t traditionally festive but to me, fresh new pyjamas at the end of Christmas Day is my favourite thing. Winding down in crisp pjs with a cuppa and some leftover Christmas pudding is one of life’s little joys.
I’m not using the pink minis yet, just the main colour and it looks fab. Here’s an in progress pic I took last week:
WIP 3: Jolly Robin cross-stitch.
This has been on the go for a while. I got the kit as a Christmas gift from my dad, and I’m working on it off and on in between the knitting projects.
Eventually I will frame it up and display it in my craft room. The picture is so cute and a reminder of my beautiful mum who passed away September 2018. We always say, as most people do, Robins appear when loved ones are near. Xx❤️Xx
