Designer: Petite Knit
Yarn used: What Mustard Made– BFL 4ply – “Silver Neon Heart”, Truly Hooked– Suri Alpaca Silk- “Twilight” Held Double
Needles: 4.50mm Chiao Goo Interchangeable
Notes:
I knew I wanted to use as much of the yarn as I could in this project. So to get the most out of it I started by weighing the Suri alpaca yarn so I could then half it and know when to start the decreases.
I then just followed the pattern as written.
I was a little worried about the scratchiness of the BFL but once held with the fluff and after washing, it turned out lovely and soft.
It ended up a good size and easily wraps around your neck twice.
The pattern is super easy to follow – you just need to keep track of where your increases or decreases go.
I will definitely be making another of these for myself and I may have already picked out some yarn (from the stash of course)
Yardage Used: 312m of each yarn

Pattern Name: The Snuggle is Real
Designer: Maxim Cyr
Yarn used: The Woolly Tangle– Merino Bamboo- “Slate”, Truly Hooked Merino Nylon DK- “Sugar & Spice”, Ducky Darlings – Suri Alpaca Silk- “Fuschia”
Needles: 4.00mm & 3.50mm Chiao Goo Interchangeable
Notes:
Followed the pattern but made a few modifications as follows:
- Knit the main body (textured and lining sections) to just 9 inches instead of 13.5 inches.
- Attached the bottom provisional cast on to the start of the bottom ribbing section before grafting onto the lining with kitchener stitch.
- Made the icord with 1 strand of dk and 2 strands of Alpaca held together.
- Only had enough yarn to make the icord 110 cm once blocked.
Overall – I think the yarn requirements are incorrect in the pattern. There is no way I would have been able to make it to the written measurements without running out of the Suri Alpaca.
That being said, this is a lovely warm cowl and will be a great gift for my husbands upcoming birthday, I might even be able to make some mitts to match.
